The Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger Non-Isolated 12V / 12V-30A is a professional-grade, adaptive DC-to-DC charger designed for charging a service battery from a vehicle’s starter battery or alternator. Engineered for dual-battery systems in RVs, vans, boats, and mobile power applications, it delivers reliable and efficient charging for both lead-acid and lithium batteries. With built-in Bluetooth, smart charging algorithms, and robust thermal performance, the Orion-Tr Smart offers precise control and dependable operation in demanding environments. Designed for 12V systems, this charger provides up to 30A of output and supports parallel operation, allowing multiple units to be combined to increase total charging capacity as system demands grow.
- Adaptive 3-Stage Smart Charging: The Orion-Tr Smart uses an adaptive 3-stage charging algorithm (Bulk, Absorption, Float) to optimize battery charging based on battery condition and usage. Charge parameters can be fully customized for different battery chemistries, including LiFePOâ‚„, AGM, Gel, and Flooded batteries, ensuring efficient charging while extending battery life.
- Built-In Bluetooth Monitoring & Configuration: Integrated Bluetooth allows full configuration and monitoring through the VictronConnect app. Users can adjust charge voltages, current limits, absorption times, and battery profiles while viewing real-time charging data, historical information, and system status directly from a smartphone or tablet.
- Remote On/Off Control: The Orion-Tr Smart includes a remote on/off input that allows the charger to be controlled using a low-power switch, ignition signal, or battery management system. This eliminates the need for high-current switching on the input side and enables clean integration into vehicle or marine electrical systems.
High-Temperature Performance & Scalable Design
The Orion-Tr Smart is built for reliable operation in challenging conditions. It delivers full rated output up to 40°C (104°F) and continues to operate safely at ambient temperatures up to 55°C (131°F) with automatic thermal derating. All models are short-circuit proof and can be connected in parallel with no limit, allowing scalable charging solutions for larger battery banks.
Simple Installation & Durable Construction
Screw terminals provide straightforward installation without the need for special tools, ensuring secure connections for both input and output wiring. The non-isolated design offers high efficiency while maintaining a compact footprint, making it easy to install in tight engine bays or electrical compartments.

Micah is meticulous, I realized when I saw his tool chest, ridiculous organization. They installed and wired my solar panels, roof penetration, prewire Starlink, solar breaker, MMPT solar controller, DC to DC charging, shore power, wire batteries, Lynx distributors, Cerbo GX, air conditioner, MaxAir fan, ran power to my 12V and 120V electrical panels.
